Dance Code Studio is changing the face of the Edmonton Dance Community. We are consistently keeping all of our dancers and clients up to date with the styles and flavors around the world!
We host workshops and drop ins with world renown choreographers, such as Blake Mcgrath, Show Time, Mark Samules, Stacey Tookey, Calen J. Kurka, and more.
These classes are designed to sustain and push your technique and bettering yourself as a dancer!
A pre-dance program for young dancers. Classes are offered in Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop and Jazz. Our classes are specifically designed for three to six year olds.
The foundation for all dance forms. Improve strength, poise, balance, and control. Technical skill gained through the study of ballet is necessary for all other forms of dance. Dancers will study the discipline of ballet through the Royal Academy of Dancing (R.A.D.). Students considering competing in dance must be enrolled in the ballet program.
Jazz is a fundamental dance form that complements all other dance forms. Jazz classes are comprised of a warm-up, centre work and progressions including jumps and turns. Technique and style through choreography are emphasized. Beginner students will learn basic jazz steps, progressive skills and jazz combinations and routines. Jazz is offered to all ages from beginner to advanced.
Make music with your feet! Students will learn basic, progressive and intricate tap steps and rhythm combinations. Develop and improve timing, rhythm, and coordination. Once you start tapping, you’ll never want to stop! The Al Gilbert syllabus is taught in our tap program.
This program is a high-energy dance experience that is fun for dancers of all ages! Hip hop dancing is an ideal way to express one’s creativeness. It features self impressions and the dances come from the soul. The dancing represents body movements that go with the beat and rhythm of hip hop music. There is breaking, popping, locking, and free styling in hip hop choreography.
Combines the beauty and grace of ballet and the style and strength of classical jazz. Music is used to express emotion and tell a story. Balance, extension, and control are developed. Classes are available for the experienced Ballet and Jazz dancer.
Stretch and Technique
Various stretching and strengthening exercises are performed to increase flexibility, strength, and control. Technical skills are also practiced to improve ballet and jazz technique. Students are taught how to apply their technique to other dance forms. Technique classes are mandatory for competitive dancers.
Covers a range of techniques and styles. Modern dance is characterized by its versatility. Movement is used as a creative form of expression. Classes are available for the experienced Ballet and Jazz dancer.
This program combines dance movements with an emphasis on developing acting and performance skills. Routines and combinations are inspired by musicals and movies. Dancers will use facial expressions and body movements to portray different characters and story lines. Classes for students aged 7 and up.
It is completely unique to your character, past experiences and personal preferences. It can come from backgrounds in other sports, martial arts, gymnastics, even culture. The focus is on building from those foundation and incorporating it into the B-boy foundational movements. Top rock, Footwork, Freeze, and Power.
Strength & Conditioning
Improving muscular strength by gradually increasing the ability to resist force through the use of body weight. Strength training sessions are designed to impose increasingly greater resistance, which in turn stimulates development of muscle strength to meet the added demand.
Jumps & Turns
This class is meant to help learn the technique behind each movement and really focus on hitting those piques perfectly! Our aim is to focus more on the quality of our jumps and turns over the amount.
Body Beautiful Burlesque Program
Total program 6 Weeks
This program consists of 3 Levels. Each level consists of 6 hours of Burlesque training. Once a student has completed the beginner 6 week program they may move on to the next if the instructor has rewarded them with a certification of completion. Some students take longer than others to adapt to the style of Burlesque and must feel comfortable enough before moving on.
